I joined the School of Nursing, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in September 2017 as an assistant professor. I completed my Master of Philosophy degree in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care at HKU and my Doctor of Philosophy degree in the School of Nursing at HKU. During my studies at HKU, I was also a resident tutor at Starr Hall and an honorary tutor in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care.
I hold a strong research interest in the fields of health services research, men’s health and sexual health. During my time in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary care, I contributed to two large primary care health services research projects commissioned by the Food and Health Bureau in Hong Kong, including the evaluation of the quality of care of chronic disease management programmes and public-private partnership programmes of the Hospital Authority, as well as the epidemiology and natural history of depressive disorders in primary care. Aside from health services research in primary care, I am also interested in men’s health. I was recently awarded RGC Early Career Scheme (an external competitive grant) with HKD 877,176 to develop an intervention to improve sexual health among men. I have published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has received several awards for conference presentations. I also serve as the associate editor of Health & Social Care in the Committee and BMC Psychology.
I also involve in community projects. I currently work closely with Hong Kong Housing Authority and Mother’s Choice to develop community-based programmes.
In terms of teaching and leaning, I teach Global Health Nursing and Epidemiology. I also involve in curriculum development (health informatics), teaching innovation (the use of virtual reality in clinical education), and school admission and promotion.
I also contribute to school administration. I am the course coordinator of two undergraduate courses and one postgraduate course. I currently serve as the international relations coordinator (Canada), coordinator of staff development series (research) and organising committee member of International Nursing Forum 2018. I am elected to serve as the president of HKU Nusing Alumni Association (2018 – 2019).
I am open to different research collaborations and even new career opportunities.
